Océ Direct Imaging Technology

At the heart of the Océ CPS700 is a true revolution in imaging technology. Océ has invented a reproduction process that does not require light for transmission of the image onto an imaging drum. In fact, the new Océ Direct Imaging technology eliminates two intermediate steps in the digital imaging process which significantly enhances image quality.

Conventional electrophotographic printing systems require four steps to create a printed image. Light, usually in the form of a laser or LED array, is used to create a latent image on a previously charged photoconductor. Electrically charged toner is carried to this latent image by a developer, making it visible. The toner image is then transferred to the paper, again using electrical charges, where it is fused using high heat and pressure.

The Océ Direct Imaging process, the seven direct imaging units are imaged electronically by electronic circuits inside each drum. No light is used to create the image. It is directly created on each drum electronically, thereby providing highly accurate color registration and image fidelity, unmatched by traditional processes.
