New Océ JetStream Enhancements Expand
Ultra-High-Speed Color Opportunities in Graphic Arts Market
MICR and color support give customers more value from Océ JetStream investment
October 24, 2008 -- Chicago - Océ today announced the latest developments in ultra-high-speed inkjet digital color printing with new capabilities for the Océ JetStream™ family. Enhancements like MICR printing and Océ multi-level printing for output versatility give customers more ways to leverage their Océ system investment. Color capabilities have been expanded with built-in color management resources to support a wider range of applications than ever before. Compliance with the RoHS directive regarding hazardous substances helps print operations contribute to environmental sustainability goals.
"The Océ JetStream platform has been enthusiastically adopted by customers around the world who are creating amazing campaigns and other applications using full color and variable content. We continue to enhance our Océ JetStream platform with new capabilities that help customers expand their high-volume full color business and protect their investment in high-end color technology. With these latest enhancements, the Océ JetStream platform is a powerful combination of multi-level printing, speed, quality, ink, MICR and media options unmatched in today's high-speed inkjet market. It opens a world of possibilities that goes well beyond transpromo and direct mail into graphic arts,” said Guy Broadhurst, Vice President of New Technology and Client Development, Production Printing Systems, Océ North America.
Introduced less than a year ago, the groundbreaking high-speed Océ JetStream full-color, inkjet product family has redefined productivity and quality standards for ultra-high-volume production printing. Its precedent-shattering capabilities and performance give commercial printers and others a strong competitive edge. Offering unprecedented versatility, ease of use and integration into existing workflows, the Océ JetStream family is distinguished by total flexibility as well as raw speed. A hefty duty cycle handles well over 86 million impressions per month with a maximum monthly capacity of almost 20 million linear feet. By focusing on integration, operation and uptime, the Océ JetStream family delivers significantly higher productivity than competing systems, ensuring that customers have all the power they need to capture lucrative new business.
High-speed Inkjet Color with Integrated MICR
Flawless MICR output is essential in production environments that print insurance, financial, marketing offers and other types of applications involving check images. For direct mailers, commercial print providers and service bureaus, the ability to print clearly legible MICR and professional full color output in one pass on one system creates an unmatched competitive and productivity advantage.
Océ has been a leader in delivering MICR solutions on both continuous feed and cut-sheet products. In response to market demand, Océ has applied its extensive expertise to directly integrate MICR capabilities into the Océ JetStream platform. This is accomplished by expanding on the basic four-color process that uses four inkjet heads and adding a fifth head. As a result, customers can seamlessly print checks along with full-color documents with complete reliability, security and error recovery. The fifth inkjet head uses the same Océ DigiDot ™ drop-on-demand technology as the other inkjet heads. This ensures state-of-the-art MICR ink formulation without affecting the rest of the printing process.
Multi-level Printing and Color Management Expand Choices for Graphic Arts
The graphic arts market requires premium color quality for many high-end applications, and newly added capabilities further position the Océ JetStream platform as the ultimate solution for this segment. The new multi-level printing capability lets users vary drop sizes within a job. Customers can print richer gray scales, contour-free gradients, and finer details resulting in higher image quality. The new color-focused enhancements extend the reach of Océ Job Appropriate Color® versatility to a broader range of high-end color applications, providing more choices for color output based on the demands of each job.
Important color management capabilities integrated into the Océ JetStream controller ensure consistent quality regardless of media. Customers can confidently take on sophisticated color business knowing their Océ JetStream system will deliver reliable, standards-based output. Based on the latest International Color Consortium® (ICC) color management rules, these new capabilities comply fully with AFP Color Management Architecture. Colors are converted to the correct values to ensure precise matching of color representation and achieve optimal ink coverage. Because the system is based on ICC profiles, profiles for new media can be added into the workflow at any time, ensuring customers can expand their color business without limitations.

Like all Océ products, the Océ JetStream family fully complies with the provisions of the RoHS directive, which restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in new electrical and electronic equipment.
