New Océ VarioStream® 7000 Advanced Triplex® Configurations Offer Unmatched Versatility

Innovative design brings greater flexibility and 2/1 color to high-volume workflow

July 10, 2007 – Océ, a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, announces new advanced Triplex configurations for the Océ VarioStream 7000 series, taking the family’s renowned flexibility to new levels. Advanced Triplex models are available as four, five or six connected print engines. Users choose the best configuration to maximize their high-volume production, with the ability to modify the configuration as requirements change.

The Océ VarioStream 7000 Triplex model provides industry leadership in flexibility, reliability and throughput, and the advanced Triplex versions extend that unprecedented versatility to customers with very high monthly volume requirements, typically from 8.5 million to 38 million 8.5"x11" two-up impressions. There are many possible engine combinations, and different post-processing equipment can be installed for maximum flexibility without hardware reconfiguration.

"The strength of our Océ VarioStream 7000 placements is one of the reasons InfoTrends has named Océ the leader in the continuous feed market, and the new advanced Triplex models recognize the market’s preference for systems with unrivalled flexibility," said Guy Broadhurst, Vice President of Product Marketing, Océ North America, Commercial Printing Division.

The advanced Triplex systems can help direct mail and other environments leverage the growing adoption of color and personalization. In keeping with the Océ Job Appropriate Color® approach, customers can print up to three different toners for 2/1 black and highlight color printing without dedicating a system to color output. With the combination of high volume, personalization and highlight color, users can start jobs with just plain white paper and print color pages dynamically, replacing costly preprinted forms. Users can print duplex or add Océ CustomTone® standard or custom blended toner to add value to their communications, then switch back to black and white, all on the same system. Océ high-volume customers can also take advantage of a well-defined migration path from the Océ VarioStream 7000 advanced Triplex series with its spot and 2/1 color to the Océ VarioStream 9000 series for 2/2 color and more.

The "four-pack" four-engine advanced Triplex configuration is designed for customers who have enough volume for two Twin dual engine configurations and want the flexibility of occasional printing with a Triplex. As Triplex volume grows, this configuration can easily be upgraded to two Triplex systems. The "five-pack" version with five engines is targeted to operations with more Triplex applications as well as Twin printing. Users can run Twin and Triplex jobs simultaneously with redundancy for the Triplex. The "six-pack" could be used as two Triplex, three Twin engines or other configurations. Both Triplex and Twin paper paths are fully redundant, ensuring maximum back up for high-uptime print environments.

The new configuration is available now, and customers can upgrade their current Océ VarioStream Triplex system to any of the advanced Triplex models.

About the Océ VarioStream 7000 Family
Designed with unrivalled flexibility and higher throughput for a range of applications, Océ VarioStream 7000 printers help get documents and products to market faster. One of the most important benefits is robust daily throughput, giving users the competitive advantage of shorter turnaround and higher volumes. The Océ VarioStream 7000 family is scalable from 190 to nearly 1,300 images per minute and supports multiple print architectures and resolutions, MICR printing, highlight and Océ CustomTone custom-blended colors, duplex and simplex output, and a wide array of media including pin-fed, pinless and lightweight paper. The versatility of multiple engines gives maximum flexibility in how and when to run high volume jobs. Users can run two jobs simultaneously, choose duplexing, or have different types of finishing ready to go in an instant. This saves several hours of changeover time, which can be used for other work. For duplex black printing with highlight color or MICR check printing on one side, Océ VarioStream Triplex printing systems combine three printers for two-sided black and white printing with highlight color or MICR. Triplex systems can also be operated as simplex or twin systems. Advanced Triplex configurations of four, five and six engines offer still more versatility and productivity. One, two, or three additional printers can be added to a Triplex system, now providing the ultimate in flexibility and redundancy. Océ PRISMATM software adds value in high-volume environments through capabilities across the production workflow.
