Océ Marks Tenth Anniversary of Océ PRISMA Software

Latest release of versatile workflow architecture unveiled in conjunction with milestone

April 5, 2005 – Boca Raton, FL – Océ (NASDAQ: OCENY), a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, marks the tenth anniversary of Océ PRISMATM software with a new release of Océ PRISMAproductionTM, a core component of Océ’s workflow and output management architecture. Océ celebrated this milestone at the recent Océ Open House in Poing, Germany by honoring key international Océ PRISMA customers, including Global Document Solutions (GDS), Inc. In using Océ PRISMAproduction software to centrally manage Océ and non-Océ production printers in three states, GDS demonstrates how Océ PRISMA is helping customers gain significant efficiency and productivity improvements.

A leading provider of complete document management services, GDS prints between 75 and 100 million documents each month for its clients. GDS uses Océ PRISMAproduction to manage Océ VarioStreamTM and IBM InfoPrint® printers, providing resource and job management across production facilities in New York, Chicago and Philadelphia from a central control point. Through its support for multiple printer languages and formats, Océ PRISMAproduction manages diverse jobs within tight timeframes to maximize device utilization and ensure optimal quality.

"We are pleased to celebrate a decade of Océ PRISMA solutions with customers who are benefiting from the software family’s powerful capabilities," said Joyce Virnich, Vice President of Marketing of Océ Digital Document Systems. "This milestone is a rare accomplishment for software products and further validates Océ’s R&D commitment to developing world-class production printing solutions. Océ PRISMA has become an important presence in the document workflow arena and provides an unparalleled breadth of product capabilities in the data center, CRD, commercial printer and networked office."

The first version of this professional software suite was unveiled in 1995. Since then, C-level executives and IT professionals in many industries have adopted Océ PRISMA to distribute jobs and manage equipment across physical locations and departmental boundaries. Océ PRISMA’s end-to-end workflow and output management capabilities help customers manage hybrid fleets of printers, including various makes of continuous-feed and cut sheet printers, under a single unified interface, raising the efficiency of print workflows.

Each module of Océ PRISMA is built from the ground up as an integrated component of the complete family of products. Due to its architected design, Océ PRISMA saves customers time and money initially and over the life of the application. In addition, future requirements can be met by simply adding additional modules. Other vendors usually require charge a significant number of billable professional service hours to build customized workflow solutions to integrate software products that weren’t initially engineered to work together.

With Release 3.04, Océ PRISMAproduction software gains an even wider range of functions and options, including support for all varieties of Xerox® DocuPrintTM and DocuTechTM product lines. In addition, Océ PRISMAproduction also now supports the popular Océ VarioPrintTM 2110 multifunctional systems, enabling users to drive a wide variety of Océ cut sheet and continuous forms printers directly from Xerox DigiPathTM print streams via Océ DPconnectTM software. As a result, customers now have a true plug-and-play option to DocuTech devices and can continue using their existing DigiPath workflow without modification, while taking advantage of the versatility, performance and quality of the Océ VarioPrint 2110 system.

Release 3.04 also includes other capabilities to give users more choices for simplifying management of their heterogeneous print environments. A new LCDS driver (Line Conditioned Data Stream) allows Xerox LCDS printers to be controlled directly under the Océ PRISMAproduction interface, while the new PJL driver (Printer Job Language) integrates PCL printers and printing of short jobs more efficiently. With support for the new operating system, Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9, enterprises profit from a more stable, powerful and secure platform.
