New Enhancements Give Multifunction Océ VarioPrint 2090 Greater Versatility and Functionality for Networked Document Workflow

NEW YORK, NY, March 8, 2004 – Océ (NASDAQ: OCENY), a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, announces new enhancements for the Océ VarioPrintä 2090 printer/copier/scanner that deliver greater functionality and versatility for office and networked environments, especially in document-intensive industries such as legal, insurance and financial services. Software release 2.1 improves the Océ VarioPrint 2090 with enhanced document flexibility from the integration of Océ Scan LogicTM software, and greater document accounting functionality.

Document scanning can delay critical business processes, but Océ Scan Logic software provides a digital "on ramp" for the rapid conversion of paper-based documents into existing business processes and applications, especially in the legal, financial, healthcare and insurance fields. When combined with Océ PRISMATM solutions, mission-critical processes such as e-filing, loan processing, patient accounting and claims processing are made more efficient and cost-effective.

The multi-purpose Océ VarioPrint 2090 is designed for use by a wide range of people within an organization for a variety of purposes. New internal job accounting offers a means to accurately and quickly assign document usage charge backs. Users in the legal and education markets will especially benefit from the optional copy control interface on the Océ VarioPrint 2090. Users gain interoperability with industry-standard cost accounting systems for client bill back, print and copy cost debiting, and interdepartmental billing. For users who only require print, copy and scan accounting, integrated job logging is available as a no-cost, added value item.

The Océ VarioPrint 2090 is an extremely versatile member of the Océ VarioPrint 2000 family of production-class multifunctional printers. The 85-ppm system is unparalleled as a productive, on-demand solution for office printing and copying, retail print shops, centralized printing and copying operations, and distributed document work centers. The latest release also includes booklet and batch mode for copying and an external finishing interface. Newly designed drivers for Mac O/S 10.X and PC give seamless support for the latest versions of the operating systems typically found in networked workplaces.

The Océ VarioPrint 2090 combines network printing, copying and scanning within a single device, making it easier for customers to turn paper documents into digital images that can be distributed electronically. The system supports true convergence by providing the quality and versatility required for typical business documents.

New enhancements for booklet and batch mode for copying further increase the variety of jobs that can be handled by the system. These capabilities deliver greater convenience and time savings for booklet publishing. Booklet impositioning greatly simplifies and automates the difficult task of booklet copying. Hard-copy originals are fed normally, but the images are automatically rearranged, so when copies are folded to create a booklet, the images appear in the correct order.

The Océ VarioPrint 2090 can be combined with Océ PRISMAä workflow solutions as a powerful resource for mixed document environments. Océ PRISMA, an integrated family of adaptive workflow software, provides the most complete and available workflow management software solutions available today, with modules that improve workflow at every point in the printing or reprographics process, from creation through archiving and storage. Designed to fit into users’ existing environments, Océ PRISMA solutions are compatible with systems and work processes already in place, protecting users’ investments as they streamline work processes and procedures.

Now with full support for optional Océ Scan Logic software, the Océ VarioPrint 2090 device becomes a tool for network scanning of analog documents. Océ Scan Logic is used in conjunction with Océ Image Logic® technology to ensure optimal image quality and consistency. Together these tools help deliver the industry’s finest quality files to a customer’s network for complete document management capabilities.

The $65,000 SRP price of the Océ VarioPrint 2090 does not change, except for the following options: PostScript 3 - $1,400, Océ Scan Logic - $3,000, NDPS - $400, Finishing Interface - $600, and CCD Interface $140.The enhanced Océ VarioPrint 2090 printer is generally available.
