Océ PRISMA Workflow Solutions Gain Powerful New Capabilities

New PRISMA Product Enhancements Announced

New York City – March 8, 2004 – Océ (NASDAQ: OCENY), a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, today announced new functionality for its industry-leading Océ PRISMATM family of adaptive workflow solutions. Océ PRISMA integrated solutions provide a full range of capabilities to help customers in printing and reprographics environments enhance and manage all aspects of document workflow. New, comprehensive, easy-to-implement solution packages are available for transactional, on demand publishing, corporate reprographics and office network environments. Encompassed in the Océ PRISMA solution packages are new products including CopyMaker and DocumentManagerTM that add powerful capabilities, while new versions of PRISMAproductionTM, DocSetterTM and TrueProofTM enhance productivity and offer more benefits.

"The Océ PRISMA family of solutions has already claimed its place as the industry’s most complete and robust solution for improving workflow in corporate, commercial printing and reprographic environments, and the new enhancements just put it that much further out front," noted Carl Joachim, vice president of marketing for Océ North America’s Digital Document Systems division. "We are continually looking at ways to help our customers achieve greater success, and now these enhancements once again raise the bar, providing substantial advances in functionality, simplified operations and added convenience for our customers."

Overview of New PRISMA Capabilities

Océ PRISMAproduction software provides integration between data center, departmental, network, and in-plant graphic arts environments. The enhancements announced today provide advanced functionality for cut-sheet publishing environments, including simplified procedures for interoperation between Océ PRISMA and Xerox DigiPathTM and DocuTechTM systems, increased multi-vendor support, new java-based Océ VarioPrintTM Job Manager interface for remote system management and job ticket programming, for dynamic tray pulls, offset stacking and finishing capabilities

Océ DocumentManager, a high performance archiving software for all kinds of data streams, delivers fast input and speedy access to archived documents. A module of the Océ PRISMAarchiveTM solution, DocumentManager can be tightly integrated with other members of the Océ PRISMA family.

Océ Document Designer, a robust server-based document composition solution, has been enhanced with easy-to-use GUI workflow to simplify the creation of personalized, variable-data documents. Document Designer’s ability to receive unformatted data and output it in virtually any format, and support for monochrome, highlight and full color printing make it the wise choice for data center and publishing applications alike.

Océ DocSetter software provides advanced scanning, make-ready and graphics design tools for digital workflow. DocSetter 2.0 adds user convenience and workflow features including a MACRO recorder for automating repetitive procedures, a Tab Wizard for simplified tab labeling and insertion, enhanced integrated PRISMAproduction job submission, and support for Windows XP.

Océ TrueProof 2.0 provides 100 percent accurate electronic proofing. When combined with PRISMAproduction, TrueProof will support all major PDLs and application types. The new version, which is available as software only or as a software/server combination, also features the ability to proof the alignment of variable text on a pre-printed form and a new cut-sheet emulation for highlight color support.

Océ Copy Maker 1.0 is a new product that brings multi-function device capabilities to Océ VarioPrint 5000 cut sheet, digital printing systems. Copy Maker 1.0 features an intuitive "copier-like" user interface and advanced functions such as automatic clean up, deskew and despeckle, header and footer support and page numbering.

Océ PRISMAweb, developed for commercial print-on-demand and professional in-plant printing operations, complements and maximizes the effectiveness of Océ digital printers, while enabling Océ customers to realize quick returns on their investments. The printing industry today is extremely competitive, and increasingly print buyers are outsourcing jobs to reduce costs. PRISMAweb provides the supply chain integration between print buyer and print provider that is essential for profitability.

The new and enhanced PRISMA modules will be featured in the company’s booth 2219 at On Demand 2004, March 8-10, 2004 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York.
