With innovative Océ Quick Change Developer Station (QCDS) technology, your print operation can achieve far more productivity and return on your technology investment. Because, with the QCDS feature, you can optionally transform any one printing system into three printers in one.
The key is an exchangeable developer station that enables documents to be printed with standard black toner and either highlight color or MICR toner. By simply swapping out the black developer station for a MICR or highlight (spot) color developer station, you can change your printer functionality in a matter of minutes to print in standard duplex mode with MICR or highlight color. So, whether you?re printing payroll checks, insurance reimbursements, or coupons, switchable QCDS technology eliminates the need for dedicated MICR or highlight color devices.
Typically used by banks on checks, MICR, or Magnetic Ink Character Recognition, is a character recognition system that uses special ink and characters. The special ink characters enable a document to be passed through a machine that magnetizes the ink and translates magnetic information into characters. MICR provides a secure, high-speed method of scanning and processing information.
With QCDS, you can flexibly print one run of MICR checks, then produce duplex documents in all black ink, and then run yet another application with black and white on the front and highlight color on the back. All QCDS stations are coded to ensure that the toner matches the requirements of the document being printed. If the printer detects that a document requires a different toner than the one loaded, printing is halted and the operator is notified. With Océ VarioStream 7000 smart toner bottles, it's virtually impossible to load the wrong toner bottle, and your document integrity is maintained even when switching between colors.
